Some people are here for such a short time and still light up everything. 🌠 #GoneTooSoon
The song compares a life ended early to beautiful things that pass quickly, giving grieving listeners imagery that honours the person rather than dwelling on how they died.
"Gone Too Soon" is an elegy written by Larry Grossman (music) and Buz Kohan (lyrics), first performed by Dionne Warwick on a 1983 TV tribute special. Michael Jackson recorded it for his 1991 album Dangerous, producing it with Bruce Swedien, and dedicated it to his friend Ryan White, a teenager who became a national spokesperson for AIDS awareness and died in 1990.
