Watching them love someone else from across the room, and dancing anyway. That's strength too. 🪩💔 #DancingOnMyOwn
Robyn described the song as a woman at a club watching her ex with someone new, a painfully specific scene that makes rejection feel recognised rather than silly.
Dancing On My Own is the lead single from Robyn's 2010 album Body Talk Pt. 1, written by Robyn and Patrik Berger and produced by Berger with Robyn. A mid-tempo electropop track, it follows a woman alone in a crowded club near closing time who watches her ex dance with someone else; Robyn drew on Stockholm nightlife and the end of her engagement, and left much of the story open to interpretation.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music (widely available). A slower 2016 cover by Calum Scott is also widely streamed.
