His father said the wrong son died, and he carried that into every stage and every pill. June never gave up on him. πΈπ€
Walk the Line starts from a boyhood loss, Jack's death, and a father who blames the surviving son, and it lets that wound echo through Johnny's adult life: his restlessness, his distance in his marriage and his escalating pill use.
James Mangold's 2005 biographical film, based on Johnny Cash's two autobiographies, traces Cash's life from a childhood on an Arkansas cotton farm, where his older brother Jack is killed in a sawmill accident and their father blames Johnny, through his rise at Sun Records in Memphis. On tour he meets June Carter, who becomes his friend as his marriage to Vivian strains and his drug use worsens.
