First love at church camp and the slow realisation that you might not believe anymore. Blankets hurts in the softest way. ❄️
Craig grows up in rural Wisconsin in a strict evangelical family, sharing a bed with his younger brother Phil, bullied at school and feeling guilty for loving to draw.
Blankets is Craig Thompson's autobiographical graphic novel, published by Top Shelf Productions in 2003. It follows Craig from a childhood in a strict evangelical family, where he shares artistic adventures with his younger brother Phil, through adolescence in Wisconsin. At a Baptist winter church camp he meets Raina, and a visit to her home in Michigan deepens their first love before the two eventually part.
